I wanted to do a DAW Test and hear for myself if DAW's effect the sound of the recording. I own all 3 DAW's that are used... they all have their pros & cons in features and the way they are operated... but is there more to just the eye? After you listen to all 3 vote here. Here is what I did. I Played the guitar without any changes to it on each recording. No mic was used I used the unboard pickup in the guitar. All recording were done in about 20 mins using 3 different DAW's. I went into my audio interface via 1/4" audio cable Audio Interface used was a M-Audio ProFire2626. I plugged the guitar into it got a good level and left it that way for all recordings. All recordings are recorded dry no Effect or EQ and redered dry with no Effect or EQ. Also there was no adjustment to input or output gain in the DAW. I just opened each DAW and made sure each DAW is recording at 24bit / 44.1... why this I have no idea, I just had to make sure each DAW was set the same way. I then recorded and then rendered at 16bit / 44.1 Dithered for each one. Pretty simple. The recordings are done on the same PC. I did not make it a blind test, put aside your emotions and let your ears do their job. You can download all 3 .wav files compressed by winrar or you can stream each.
1st DAW: Propellorhead's Record.
2nd DAW: Pro Tools M-Powerd 8.0
3rd DAW: SawStudio 4.9a
